Kony

Winter is officially upon us. This means that we get both Winter Wonderland (eek!) and CHRISTMAS. Now, I love Christmas as much as the next person but sometimes, the consequent plummeting temperatures are just not worth it. What is worth it, however, is the make-up! Despite the fact that I abhor the cold, it would be impossible not to brighten up at the thought of the limitless make-up opportunities. Whilst the heat often limits us in summer (I’m talking melting foundation and bleeding lipstick), winter doesn’t do any of that. In fact, your make-up is more likely to stay on, opening up a MAC-filled Pandora’s Box.

Anyway, I digress. This post is really about Kony, her sparkly eyes, and the other great thing about winter – the dark. Before you colour me crazy or whatever, let me explain. You may (or may not) have gathered that I love a little shimmer on the eyes, so the nighttime restrictions are, understandably, rather annoying. But here’s the great thing about December: it’s always dark. So my look, which would otherwise be for nighttime, is now a daytime look. (Fun fact: If you live in Iceland right now, you can get away with this look at 3.42pm! Go forth.)

I persuaded Kony to let me experiment with this pseudo-nighttime image. The effect was achieved with the help of the sensational Naked Palette 2 and an amazing lipstick/liner combo of NARS’ Fire Down Below and MAC’s Vino, which was sparsely applied. Another focal point was her skin, which we wanted dewy (not oily), with a slight shimmer. Introducing MAC Strobe Cream and YSL Le Teint Touche Éclat foundation: the ultimate great skin combo.

WE ♥:

Strobe Cream, £12.50, MAC Cosmetics

Naked Palette 2,  £36, House of Fraser
