The Cheltenham Ladies’ College held its first National Schools Equestrian Association show-jumping event at Rectory Farm on Sunday 15 September.

This was a huge undertaking, with months of organisation prior to the day by many members of staff and girls, in particular Miss Townsend, who coordinated the event.

As Captain and Vice-Captain of Equestrianism in College, we were also responsible for helping to plan the day and making sure that it ran smoothly.

CLC girls were on hand to assist and keep the show running throughout the long day, the first class starting at 8am and the last class finishing at 6:30pm.

The weather tested us with rain for the majority of the afternoon, but this did not deter anyone.

We fielded a team of four girls in each class, with many classes having two or three CLC teams in the main ring, which meant we had a large number of girls competing.

Everyone rode well and we had a large proportion of rosettes going home with CLC girls.

A win for the CLC teams in the final two classes topped off a fantastic day.

The team of Jessica Blackmore, Alexandra Taylour, Sophie Norman and Charlotte Bacon won the 1.00m class and the team of Hester Elvidge, Alexandra Taylour, Sophie Norman and Charlotte Bacon won the 1.10m class.
