September sees the mass migration of CLC girls from all over the world back to Cheltenham for the start of the autumn term. Silent for two months, the bustle of school life is in full swing once more, and everyone is glad to be back, whether it is their last year in SFC2 or their first in LC1.

While the older girls have had exam results to anticipate, and some girls have used the summer holidays to study or complete work experience, it has certainly been a useful time for everyone to recuperate and relax. Dozens of pupils also participated in various school trips, of which the destinations were scattered across the globe. A number of girls from Upper College visited China on a language trip, providing them with an enjoyable and unique experience of Chinese culture. The choir and orchestra also visited Cordoba and Seville in Spain, where they received much appreciation at various venues, and where they performed original music written especially for them. Some girls in Lower College took part in a cultural trip to Paris, where they were immersed in French history, language and cuisine.

Duke of Edinburgh expeditions and training have been going on throughout the summer, with several groups both walking and cycling in the Brecon Beacons. One of the highlights of the summer was the Gold Duke of Edinburgh expedition to Mongolia, where students in SFC2 spent three weeks trekking in the picturesque mountains and hills, volunteering at a local orphanage and riding horses across the rustic valleys, camping in tents each night.

Yet as the days grow shorter, the girls at CLC grow busier, with everyone signing up for clubs at the activities fair at the start of term.  From clay pigeon shooting to facial reconstruction, there are clubs for everyone’s interests, talents and quirks. And never time for a dull moment.
